ROBERT C. ROESLER, Of Counsel, works with the firm in the area of property and development, commercial finance, and business services, specializing in real estate transactions and commercial finance transactions. He has diverse experience in the purchase and sale of commercial, retail, industrial, and multi-family residential properties, structuring and pursuing development transactions, and negotiating leases and subleases. Mr. Roesler’s finance practice emphasizes structural and security aspects of commercial lending work, and he has represented lenders, participant banks, borrowers, guarantors and investors in a variety of loan and finance transactions from multi-million dollar portfolio loans and international transactions to short-term unsecured financings and credit lines.

Prior to joining Darby Kolter & Roberts, LLP, Mr. Roesler was Of Counsel to the Burlington law firm, Paul Frank + Collins. Prior to that time, 2012, Mr. Roesler was a shareholder in Roesler & Whittlesey, which he formed in 1986, and which later became Roesler, Whittlesey, Meekins and Amidon. The firm subsequently merged with Doremus and Kantor and became Doremus Roesler & Kantor. In these firms, Mr. Roesler performed a variety of real property and finance transactions, including the formation of joint ventures, tenant in common agreements, and other equity investment structures to facilitate development projects. Mr. Roesler began his career as an associate at the general practice firm of Black, Wilson & Hoff in 1969 and then at Dinse, Allen and Erdmann where he became a partner in 1974. Through his career, Mr. Roesler has worked on project finance, secured and unsecured finance transactions, and corporate transactions such as series investment rounds, bridge loans, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Roesler was the lead local attorney on the development of the downtown mall now known as the Burlington Town Center. Among his other former clients are Almartin Motors, Inc. (Almartin Volvo) and Burlington College. He currently represents the Onion River Cooperative in relation to the expansion of its business. Mr. Roesler is a Founder, current President and Chairman of the Board of Vermont Attorneys Title Corporation. He previously served as an attorney for Vermont Tomorrow, an environmental lobby. He now resides in South Burlington, Vermont. Mr. Roesler graduated from Williams College, Williamstown, MA (1966) and the University of Colorado School of Law (1969). He is a member of the Vermont Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  He served on the Town of Shelburne Selectboard for seven years and was chairman for two years.  He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Burlington Country Club.
