BRIAN K. TILLMAN returned to Vermont in 2021, joining the firm as  Of Counsel.  He is a Texas native, graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994, and Vermont Law School in 1998. He is currently licensed in both Texas and Vermont, where he focuses on real estate transactions, property matters and disputes, banking & financine, and other general civil matters.


Brian was admitted to the Vermont Bar in 1999, and practiced criminal and real estate law in Chittenden and Franklin counties. He gained substantial trial experience as a contract public defender in Franklin County, and attended the 2002 Western Trial Advocacy Institute in Laramie, Wyoming, which further shaped the way he views and handles jury trial cases.


Brian practiced in Austin after being admitted to the Texas Bar in 2004,  joining Texas' largest criminal firm before going into solo practice in 2006. In 2009 he formed Tillman Braniff, PLLC, a highly-regarded criminal firm, until returning to Vermont in 2021. Brian and his family live in Richmond with their two pups, Toby and Maisie, and he will still go fishing if you turn your back on him for more than two minutes.
